Welcome to #COMPASS Live Arena![]

#COMPASS Live Arena (henceforth referred to as Live Arena) is a music game based on on the mobile game #COMPASS' characters and music. The game contains a number of Vocaloid songs that act as the playable characters' themes, with some additional songs added to fill out the song list.

This article will act as a sort of beginner guide to help familiarize you with the core gameplay and menus.

Notice: Online services for Live Arena have shutdown as of July 31, 2023. Sales of premium currencies were suspended May 31, 2023, with refunds issued for any unused paid currency.

Introduction[]

As stated above, Live Arena is a music game, but gameplay may not be what you expect from a typical mobile rhythm game. Instead of a grid of notes flying down from the top of the screen like Project Sekai or BanG Dream, the notes fly around the dancing character on a rail. This gameplay is reminiscent of Groove Coaster, and makes for a unique and very interactive experience.

The game is mainly played online in matchmade lobbies, but the people you get matched with have little to no effect on your gameplay. These lobbies have a countdown timer as well, to ensure you're never waiting too long for the song to start.

Home/Menu[]

The Home screen is the main menu of Live Arena. On the home screen, you can press a variety of buttons to go into the game's various menus and submenus, as well as opening the song list and character/card screens!

Status Menu[]

  1. Account Level
  2. BB (Energy)
  3. RM (Main Currency)
  4. BB Refresh Time
  5. Prime Enabled

BB[]

BB is Live Arena's 'Energy' system. Games can be played without it, but using it multiplies the rewards gained. The maximum amount that can be used on a single game is 10, upping the reward multiplier to x11.

In terms of ranking/events, using 0 BB reduces the multiplier to 0.1x instead of 1x. This means that in order to realistically climb during events, at least 1 BB should be used.

BB Scaling is as follows:

BB Score Multi Rank Multi
0 BB 1x 0.1x
1 BB 2x 1x
2 BB 3x 2x
3 BB 4x 3x
4 BB 5x 4x
5 BB 6x 5x
6 BB 7x 6x
7 BB 8x 7x
8 BB 9x 8x
9 BB 10x 9x
10 BB 11x 10x

BB refills naturally over time (1 per 10 minutes), but can be refilled manually with BB Drinks (1:1 ratio) or with RM (10:1 ratio).

The bar below the BB count shows how long it will take for your BB count to be full, along with a timer that counts down until the next 1 refills.

RM[]

RM, or Rhythm Money, is the games main currency. It's main use is to roll in the Gacha, but it can also be used to refill BB in the absence of BB Drinks.

Song List[]

Live Play is the rhythm game part of Live Arena. Upon tapping the icon in the menu, you are prompted to select which song you wish to play.

  1. Main Dancer
  2. Backup dancers
  3. High Score (Sorted by difficulty) (Star background for Full Combo)
  4. Favourite Song
  5. Song Unlock Tickets (explained below)
  6. More Info (High Scores/Playcount)
  7. Practice Mode
  8. Sorting (Character/Attribute/Difficulties/Clear Count/Score)

Main/Sub Dancers[]

These features are important due to the profile cosmetics that can be obtained by playing a certain number of songs featuring each character. Knowing how many times a song has been played, as well as who is in it at a glance, can be very useful for this.

Song Unlock Tickets[]

These tickets are used to unlock new songs. They are seperated between regular songs and collaboration songs. These can be obtained as rewards from log-in campaigns and various missions, but the game tends to give you enough to unlock every song without compromise.

Live Play[]

The music game is the core game part of Live Arena. You and four other people all play the same song together, utilizing your cards and rhythm game skills to achieve high scores.

As mentioned in the introduction, the gameplay is relatively unique in that the notes follow a 3D rail that interacts with the music video behind it.

Following the orange cursor, your job is to interact with the notes to the rhythm of the song, but there's more to it than just tapping!

There are a number of different note 'Types', that will be explained in the table below:

Picture Name Action
Tap Note Tap anywhere on the screen
Hold Note Hold-tap on the screen for the duration of the note

Can have a Flick Note at the end

Flick Note Swipe the screen in any direction
Wide Tap Tap on both the left and right half of the screen simultaneously
Repeated Tap Tap rapidly on the screen, at least enough times to reach the number shown above the intial note

All taps above this number will contribute to the combo count

Up/Down Tap VERY HARD difficulty only (Toggleable: Replaces normal Tap Notes)

Tap either the top or bottom half of the screen as indicated

Secret Tap Invisible notes that usually occupy spaces between note strings

These notes can sometimes be found by tapping to the rhythm/off beats of a song
